GET STUCK INTO SAMBA FOR WINTER

Samboeire is a community based Samba Band founded in 1997 in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim. Now based in Sligo since 2004, Samboeire currently facilitates workshops every Tuesday evenings for 2 hours, from 7.30pm, at the Sligo Youth Theatre (near Domino's Pizza), Lower Quay Street, Sligo.

Having just completed an Autumn module culminating in a great performance (and great fun!) at Derry Halloween Parade, the band will start a new programme this November, with a new module starting on the 11th of November. Adults of all ages are welcome to give it a go at the free introductory workshop on the 4th November. Absolutely no musical experience is necessary as Samba caters for musician and novice alike - just count to 4 and tap your toes! All the drums are provided.

The weekly workshops are a great opportunity to socialise in a fun, active and entertaining way, where everyone participates in the energetic samba beats in a friendly atmosphere.

The module will run over 6 weeks and will culminate in a small, informal performance for those who wish to show off their new skills! (optional) During the 6 weeks participants will be taught how to play a number of different rhythms and given the opportunity to try out different instruments. The fee for the whole module is €40, and is for ages 18+. Watch this space for news of our new Youth Samba Band, starting soon!
